The Himalayas mountain range is the last place on earth where valuable herbs and plants are available for human consumption to address a host of human ailments.  Some of these herbs and valuable plants have already been discovered and used by in the medical fields after much research and clinical trials.

How do these valuable vegetation come about?  It is said that when earth was formed billions of years ago through sound, wind, matter and energy, the resulting magnetic forces created  land masses and oceans.  After billions of years, microbes started life on earth and the first step in evolution began.

Through adaptation and evolution,  plants and trees become exotically therapeutic and are not found at sea levels as seen today when the land that they were situated rose to great heights (now the Himalayan Mountain Range).

Many thousands of years ago, in Ancient times, the sages, seers and rishis (holy men) through their intense meditation/silent sitting had discovered by experience the secrets of creation and life. They discovered things like the atom (the basic fundamental element for matter in the universe), nuclear fission and fusion, vehicles that could fly in the air, control of diseases through natural cure and the spirit (energy) that binds us with the creator.  In their pursuits, they also found the power behind various sounds, symbols and prayers that could enhance man's life physically, mentally and spiritually.

Their findings known through sound alone during their meditation are now written in spiritual text known as the VEDAS.  These are texts for the benefit of mankind. Therein lies a particular text called the Rig Veda which now gives us the insight of the benefits of medicinal herbs found on earth

The creator made man and along with it, the secrets of maintaining a good life and health. Many modern scientists have discovered these secrets and have commercialised them for their gain. However, there is a limitation to the production of drugs unless new medicinal plants are discovered, researched and put to mass production.

In the Amazon forests, there are vegetative life forms that could contain cures for modern diseases.  Similarly, In the deepest oceanic floors, there are grasslands that could provide beneficial undiscovered biochemical properties that are a panacea to human diseases.

Now, Joshi Research Institute, India has embarked on its vision to investigate the Himalayas in search of valuable vegetative plants and trees for the treatment of modern human illnesses like cardiovascular diseases, strokes, diabetes, cancer and many others. In their search, a very special garlic was found to have grown well and survive in the cold mountains of the Himalayas.  Consequently, research was initiated to find out its unique properties.

The garlic is now known as Snow Mountain Garlic  as per its source - in the Himalayas Mountain.

Why is Snow Mountain Garlic so special?  The answer is simply a keen observation of a phenomenon that happened 7 years ago.

Joshi Research Institute  had a Nepalese guard in its employ. He suffered heart ailments and high blood pressure.  Without resorting to modern medical treatment,  he went back to the Himalayas for rest and to recuperate from physical stress. During his stay in the mountains for a good 9 months, he came back to JRI to report for work.  It was found that his heart disease and high blood pressure were mitigated to a large significant extent and was normal by medical standards of the time.

A series of investigations were made and the conclusion was that he did not take any medication during his stay of 9 months in the mountain and only took the garlic which was available there in his locality.  Further chemical analysis of the garlic  revealed special properties in this specie of garlic amongst the 60 odd species in the world.
JRI through its research found the following amazing facts:-

(I)  Plant Cultivation and Characteristics

1.  The method of cultivation by the local mountaineers was done only once a year.
Only organic inputs were put to the ground i.e. composted cow and green manure.

 2. The seeding of the plant was done in September - in the snowy mountain area at 11,000 feet
     above sea level..

3.  Once the plant pierced the ground at a temperature of minus 3 degrees, the farmers had to clear the snow every 3 days, so that sunlight and air could reach the leaves and roots of the plant. The cold soil had to be loosened periodically or else the plant will die.

4.  During its growth in a temperature of minus 10 degrees centigrade,  there appears a special growth in the middle of the plant of 3 to 4 feet in height. This growth is the garlic bulb encased in a hard shell.

5.  Why has nature given this plant a unique growth and characteristic (bulb encased in a hard shell) and situated at the centre of the plant?

JRI investigated and found that for the plant to survive, there must be some special capillary
action that supply the nutrients to the top of the plant i.e the leaves.

In the cold and rarefied environment, it is not possible for the plant to survive in the cold without
this special ability to transport ground nutrients to the leaves.  Hence, the bulb in the middle of
plant is special and unique to play this action as a transporter and vessel dilator.

6.  In the ground, garlic bulbs numbering 20 or more are bundled together and are of similar characteristics as
the bulb in the middle of the plant. Each plant produces approximately 20 to 30 bulbs in varying sizes.

(III)  Scientific Clinical Studies

1.  A clinical trial was conducted with 350 patients for a period of 3 years. The goal was to
research into the effectiveness of this garlic to combat cardiovascular diseases.

2.  During the research, other human ailments were monitored and found that benefits experienced
by the subjects included lowering of high blood pressure, improve breathing capacity and an
increased energy level during working hours. Last but not least, constipation was reduced.

3. Human ailments were significantly and effectively addressed by the consumption of this unique and rare garlic,
Surprisingly, JRI found that there is no where else in the Himalayan mountain range that this specie of garlic could
be found naturally or cultivated.  This then becomes an exotic plant that only the Creator decides to implant at this
one and only location thousands of years ago.

4.  JRI has initiated clinical studies for Caucasians to compare data and conclusions established with the
Indian control group in collaboration with Queensland University, Australia.

(iv)  Other Observations

SMG is not a hot herb like those found at sea level. Its consumption does not create a
burning sensation.  In fact, it is so palatable that a garlic a day after lunch would keep
one's cholesterol low and a managed normal blood pressure level.

Garlic generally has been established to be an excellent herb hundreds of years ago used
by ancient civilisation and used largely as an anti-bacteria agency to combat certain
diseases.  Today, it comes in many forms i.e pills, capsules, oil and powder.  It is used in
conjunction with other beverages to increase the value of the base beverage e.g garlic
tea or coffee or sweets.

It is JRI's conclusion that garlic must be taken raw in order to maximise its potency. Once the
garlic is processed, much of the Allicin (the most effective compound in the garlic) is destroyed or lost
in the air.  As such, in its natural state, the garlic is worth every penny when consumed for the
long term to combat human ailments or at least to improve the basic human immune system.

This gift from nature should not be taken for granted as its supply can be limited if farmers
are not encouraged to cultivate this wonderful herb that is found only in the Himalayan Mountain!
